One of the remaining big names that was undecided has reportedly made his name on the NFL Draft. Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles is going to declare. Bortles helped lead the Golden Knights to the best season in the school’s history at 11-1 capped off with the biggest single win when they defeated Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl.
Bortles’ size, strength and athleticism has drawn comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger among others and he is believed by some to be a threat to go near the top of the entire draft. There are some connecting dots and think Bill O’Brien, now the head coach of the Houston Texans, will make him the first pick of the draft based on his glowing praise of the young quarterback in their victory over Penn State.
There are conflicting reports on what grade Bortles received from the NFL Draft Advisory Board. Some reports said he received second round feedback while others have said first round. Prospects have until January 15th to decide, provided they have not signed an agent. Bortles could ultimately change his mind, but he will be another hotly debated prospect for the NFL Draft.
