Anderson Silva going through rehab

Former longtime UFC Middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, is just over a week removed from a gruesome leg injury that caused him to lose his UFC 168 rematch against current UFC Middleweight champion, Chris Weidman. Many initially believed that Silva’s injury would force him to retire and leave the sport of MMA on a sour note.

After the UFC’s orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Sanders, noted that Silva could be back in up to 6 months time, the tune has changed a bit. Since then, Anderson’s coaches have stated that Silva himself wants to return. Today, Silva posted a picture on Instagram of his long path to recovery:

Along with the picture was this message in portuguese (translated via Google):

Thank you for the affection of all, I’ll be good I promise you I will.

If Silva does return, it could possibly be at the end of the year, or the beginning of 2015. Would Anderson want to fight for a title, or just for the love of the sport? Either way, everyone in the MMA community wishes Anderson a speedy and full recovery.
