Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green will be entering the final year of his rookie contract come the 2014 season and he’s hopeful he and the Bengals will come to terms on a contract extension.
That said – if they’re unable to or if the Bengals don’t approach him about such, no worries he says as he has no plans to make it a distraction:
Bengals receiver A.J. Green said Monday that he would like for his next contract to get done before the end of next season, but added that he was content waiting in the event it didn’t come together.
“Anybody would like to have it done,” the Pro Bowl receiver said one day after his team was eliminated from the AFC playoffs. “I’m not in any financial debt, so no rush. I’ll just play it by ear,” Green said. “My body of work speaks for itself. Whatever they want.”
Green is about as no-nonsense as you get when it comes to the diva wide receiver position in the NFL, so it’s a nice change from the constant bickering and sitting out we often see with players of Green’s magnitude.
I’d venture to guess Green won’t need to wait long for the Bengals to approach him however, considering he’s one of the best receivers in the league.
