One-time #1 recruit DE/OLB Ronald Powell will leave #Florida to enter the 2014 NFL Draft

Florida Gators defensive end and outside linebacker Ronald Powell has declared for the NFL Draft. The one time big time high school recruit was able to be productive for the Gators but injuries really took their toll on him. A torn ACL eliminated from the 2012 season and much of the 2013 season was still getting back to 100%, so he was not really able to have the breakout season he might have.
Powell has a great build and good strength for the NFL and should be able to impress in workouts with a healthy knee. Teams are going to have to weigh his sophomore tape from the 2011 season against the 2013 tape to see just how much his athleticism was impacted. Combining that with workouts, teams are going to have decide where to draft Powell. Powell is an impressive athlete, but that could be a difficult gamble.
As for Florida, it means being down another player on the defensive side of the ball for next year and head coach Will Muschamp will have another hole to fill. The Gators are coming off of a disappointing season but that is the side of the ball where they have been pretty strong.
The deadline for underclassmen is the 15th of January and players who have not signed an agent have the ability to change their mind.
