Although the San Diego Chargers moved past the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon and were not eliminated from playoff contention, that didn’t stop multiple NFL teams from requesting interviews with their offensive coordinator, Ken Whisenhunt:

"The Skins, Lions, Vikings and Titans all requested permission to interview Ken Whisenhunt. Same teams as Jay Gruden. Both well positioned"

Most often than not, teams interested in poaching away fellow coaches/coordinators will wait until the said team has been eliminated from the postseason but with the Chargers now playing in the Divisional Round, teams decided they couldn’t wait any longer.

San Diego will prepare for the Denver Broncos this week so it’s unknown if the Chargers will at this time allow Whisenhunt to interview for the jobs, but it’s likely they’d allow such to happen down the road.

Whisenhunt is the former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and is said to be the top target for the Detroit Lions. Detroit is also to be rumored in the above mentioned Gruden, though he is reportedly considered to be their fallback option.
