NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers' Pau Gasol trade talks not limited to Cavaliers

For the past few days, the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly engaged in trade discussions centered around a potential Pau Gasol for Andrew Bynum swap.

But according to Yahoo Sports’ Marc J. Spears, the Lakers trade talks involving Gasol aren’t just limited to one team:

The Lakers’ trade talks involving Pau Gasol aren’t limited to the Cavaliers.

Spears slipped the interesting nugget of news into his weekly power rankings on Sunday evening, but unfortunately didn’t elaborate much.

With Gasol being a free agent at season end, Los Angeles is in the driver seat regarding any potential Gasol deal considering he’s relatively valuable to them as an expiring contract at season end – allowing them to gain further cap flexibility.

Certainly they’d like to get some type of youth/draft picks in exchange for Gasol, but they not going to mortgage their immediate cap space future if they’re unable to find a deal.

That said – despite the Lakers emphatic suggestions that they aren’t looking to move Gasol, it appears they’re actively shopping him.

Finding the right deal though – that’s a different story.
