Texas A&M offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi will make his decision on Thursday as to whether he will stay in College Station for another year or declare for the NFL Draft. There are many who expect Ogbuehi to be a first round pick because he is such an athlete tackle who will only get better as he gets stronger and continues to improve technically. Ogbuehi plays right tackle for the Aggies and has been part of an incredibly talented pair of bookends protecting quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Last year, Luke Joeckel declared for the NFL Draft and went second overall. Jake Matthews stayed and moved over to left tackle. Matthews is set to graduate, so if Ogbuehi were to stay, he would then kick over to left tackle and have the potential to improve his game and firm up his draft stock.
The difference in the situations is that Matthews is not the only one leaving this year. Manziel has not officially declared but is expected to leave and Mike Evans, the team’s talented wide receiver has already declared. As a result, Ogbuehi may want to go ahead and leave with the rest of his teammates and not want to go through an A&M rebuild or potential reload for head coach Kevin Sumlin.
