Dana White and the UFC have continually noted the importance of the Ultimate Fighter Season 1, and specifically the finale fight between Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin. That fight put the UFC on the map, and was the beginning of the meteoric rise for the UFC and the sport of MMA.
Since then, the UFC has grown into a global phenomenon that continues to evolve and thrive each year. The Ultimate Fighter recently capped off it’s 18th season, with arguably the best coaching matchup the show has ever seen. Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate showed their hatred for one another on the show, and Rousey showed her supremacy inside the cage at UFC 168.
Today, Joe Rogan looks back at the ‘Ultimate 8′ TUF coaching matchups throughout the history of the show. Among them are Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs Rashad Evans, Dan Henderson vs Michael Bisping, and Chuck Liddell vs Randy Couture. Watch the entire video above, and let me know if you agree with Rogan’s Ultimate 8 coaches in the comments below. Was there a coaching matchup that you felt was left out? There is currently a lot going on in the world of TUF. The Ultimate Fighter China just recently wrapped up filming, and the Finale will be in Macau in March. The Ultimate Fighter: Nations will debut on January 15th on Fox Sports 1. The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 that will be coached by Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen, will start filming soon. TUF 19 pits BJ Penn against Frankie Edgar for their third fight. Last, but certainly not least, TUF 20 will debut in May and will feature the Women’s Strawweight tournament to crown the inaugural UFC Strawweight champion.
