After enjoying a few miracle wins that got them to the promised land on Monday night of the 2014 BCS National Championship Game, Auburn Tigers fans took a blow on Sunday as they got a dose of their own medicine at the hands of the Florida State Seminoles.
With under two minutes to go in the game, RB Tre Mason found the end zone, giving the Tigers a 31-27 lead. Then, Jameis Winston and the ‘Noles drove the ball down the field and scored on a two-yard Winston TD pass to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds to get, giving Auburn fans the same feeling their team gave the Georgia and Alabama faithful.
Still, Auburn fans are among the most loyal in the country and they realized that despite the loss, this was still one hell of a season to be proud of, going from 3-9 last season to the BCS title game this year.
That means that they still partook in their storied tradition of rolling Toomer’s Corner, even though their hearts had just been broken by the events in Pasadena.
Again, these fans had every right to go out and celebrate everything they accomplished this season, one of the more impressive turnarounds in history under first-year head coach Gus Malzahn.
