With pretty much the national stage all to themselves on Tuesday night, the undefeated and ninth-ranked Iowa State Cyclones proved once again that they’re for real by staying unbeaten after defeating the seventh-ranked Baylor Bears at home, 87-72.

Iowa State led by just two at halftime at 40-38, but then pulled further away in the second half by outscoring the Bears 47-34. In news that shouldn’t be all that surprising, this grand effort had a lot to do with the phenomenal play of guard DeAndre Kane.

Kane dominated throughout the night once again as he came dangerously close to a triple-double in this one, dropping in 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field with eight rebounds and nine assists. He was also 50% from three-point range, going 2-of-4 on the evening.

Forward Melvin Ejim finished with 18 points on the night, Dustin Hogue grabbed 10 rebounds and Monte Morris added in 13 points off the bench to complete the Cyclones onslaught.

With the win, Iowa State now moves to a perfect 14-0 and 2-0 in the Big 12, while Baylor drops to 12-2 and 0-1 in conference play.
