CBS' Bruce Feldman: James Franklin is the 'clear frontrunner' for Penn State head coaching vacancy

Tuesday morning, word began making the rounds via footballscoop.com that the Penn State Nittany Lions were ready to offer their vacant head coaching position to Vanderbilt Commodores head coach James Franklin.

Just a little bit later, one of the more respected media members in college football, CBS’ Bruce Feldman, verified that by reporting that Franklin has indeed emerged as the clear frontrunner to take over the reins in Happy Valley.

Franklin has been a rumored candidate for Penn State for the past few weeks now, as well as a plethora of open NFL positions, leading some to believe that a Penn State move might be out of the mix.

The coach has turned Vanderbilt into a consistent force in the mighty SEC in his time at the program, something that no one thought could ever be done.
