The wait is finally over. Tonight, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns from its Winter Break and premieres a brand new episode on ABC. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from tonight’s episode.
Oh, where to start.
Tonight’s episode is bound to be an interesting one. The Winter Finale left us with many more questions than answers. It was Coulson’s intention to take the war back to Centipede; however, it ended up being Centipede who took Agent Coulson.
Now, Coulson is missing, having been abducted by Raina and Po. To make matters worse, we do not know what has become of Mike Peterson. The last time we saw him, he left his son Ace with Skye as he was running back towards Raina and Po as they were taking Coulson away. He told Skye and Ace that he was going to make everything right. Unfortunately, before he could do that, he found himself in the middle of a rather large explosion.
Centipede’s current mission is to uncover the truth behind the “death” of Agent Phil Coulson; the same information that Maria Hill said in the pilot episode that Coulson must never know.
From the looks of the trailer, it would seem that this information is starting to come into focus for Coulson. Now, this may be a very good thing for the sanity of Agent Coulson; however, it could also have terrible consequences; especially when Centipede is so anxious to get their hands on the information.
It must be something pretty important if they are willing to go to the lengths that they have to acquire said information.
At the same time, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is gearing up to go on the offensive and track down Agent Coulson. Agent Victoria Hand makes her return to the team as the leader in Coulson’s absence.
I think it is safe to say that she is not too impressed with Skye. In fact, one of her very first moves is to have Skye removed from the team and debriefed. Of course, after her hanging Fitz and Ward out to dry at the Hub I can’t say that I have much faith in her decisions.
Also, the tension between Skye and Agent May seems to be heating up as well. In the trailer, we see Agent Ward attempting to stick up for Skye to Agent Hand; however, when Agent Hand asks May point blank if she thinks Skye will be of any assistance on the plane, she tells her no, straight away. I can’t quite pin my finger on what her problem with Skye is, but I am fairly certain that it has a lot to do with the identity of Skye’s birth mother.
As I said, there are still plenty of questions to be answered when tonight’s episode premieres. On can only imagine that this episode will have plenty of action, and hopefully some answers to some of those burning questions.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
