Bagwell ‘devasted’ that Biggio is not in yet

Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston (@MarkBermanFox26) was able to get a hold of Hall of Fame nominee Jeff Bagwell after fellow former Astro Craig Biggio fell two votes short of induction. Bagwell was distraught and emotional as he spoke to Berman.

I’m going to say it again. It’s a travesty Craig is not in the Hall of Fame. I’m devastated. I don’t get it. I don’t get how anybody can’t vote for Craig. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. There are guys in there who can’t even compare to him. I’m devastated for him…He gave everything in his body every single day he went out there. To me, he’s the greatest second baseman I’ve ever seen. I was rooting so much for him.

From an approximate period of 1991-2007, the combination of Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, and Lance Berkman came to be known as the Killer B’s of the Houston Astros. Bagwell and Biggio in particular embodied the Astros franchise and were a part of the 2005 team that went to the World Series against the Chicago White Sox.

Craig Biggio fell just short at 74.8%. Bagwell received 54.3% of the BBWAA vote.
