Doug Nussmeier leaves Alabama for Michigan, Lane Kiffin possible replacement?

The offense for the Alabama Crimson Tide was expected to take on a different look without AJ McCarron under center, but no one expected the Tide to lose offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier who will be named the offensive coordinator with the Michigan Wolverines, according to Football Scoop.

Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports reports that Nussmeier will be among the top five assistants in the FBS.

Nussmeier just completed his second season as the offensive coordinator in Alabama where the Crimson Tide had the No. 18 ranked scoring offense this year under Nussmeier, averaging 38,2 points per game.

His replacement could very well could be a former NFL and college head coach who recently spent time with Alabama in preparation for their Sugar Bowl.

Saban had this to say about his time with Kiffin, “Lane is a terrific offensive coach and I’ve always had a tremendous amount of respect for him.”

Saban and Kiffin would be an interesting dynamic for Alabama as they break in a new quarterback and coming off back-to-back losses to end the 2013 season.
