Reports on Wednesday began to surface that San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman had set up an interview with the Penn State Nittany Lions in regards to their head coaching vacancy created by the departure of Bill O’Brien to the NFL.
Now according to Bruce Feldman of CBS, an interview with the two parties has already taken place in an off-site meeting.

In the past week, the Penn State coaching search has taken some interesting twists.
After it was reported that Miami coach Al Golden was the clear frontrunner for the job, he reiterated his commitment to the Hurricanes. Then, the list basically narrowed down to two with Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin and fired Tennessee Titans head coach–and Penn State alum–Mike Munchak ahead of the pack.
In the last few days, though, Roman’s name has picked up some steam as a potential successor to O’Brien in Happy Valley.
