The Sacramento Kings defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 123-119 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, CA. The Kings improved to 11-22, and the Trail Blazers fell to 26-9.
Blazers point guard Damian Lillard scored 41 points, including 26 points in the fourth quarter. Lillard’s tremendous effort fell short, but his shooting barrage gave the Blazers a chance at the end of the game.
Portland was down 117-105 with 1:12 to go, and Lillard scored 14 points over the final minute to bring his team within a basket of the Kings. However, Sacramento point guard Isaiah Thomas made two clutch free throws to put the Kings up 123-119 with 14 seconds to go. Lillard’s last chance three failed to go down, and a wild one ended with the Kings on top.
Sacramento top performers: DeMarcus Cousins scored 35 points, collected 13 rebounds, and blocked two shots. Rudy Gay netted 32 points with five rebounds and four assists. Isaiah Thomas had seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals. Derrick Williams finished with 14 points and five rebounds.
Portland top performers: Damian Lillard scored 41 points along with seven rebounds and four assists. LaMarcus Aldridge netted 24 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Robin Lopez had 18 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Nicolas Batum finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
