Texas Longhorns grab first commitment under new head coach Charlie Strong from TE Blake Whiteley

We’re not really sure how Charlie Strong will do overall as the University of Texas head coach, but we do know one thing about the man–he can recruit and he can recruit well. That’s something that this program has particularly been lacking lately.

However, not even after two official days on the job, Strong is off to a good start in that department as the Longhorns and the new coach have received a verbal commitment from Arizona junior college TE Blake Whiteley.

Whiteley is a three-star composite rated tight end, and the second rated tight end in the 2014 class. He’s rated sixth overall in the state of Arizona.

The new ‘Horns’ tight end comes in at 6-5 and 240-pounds, the type of player that Strong loves to have at that particular position. He can catch passes, but he also has the blocking skills to stay home and protect the QB if necessary.
