As if X-Men: Days of Future Past wasn’t already jam packed with all kind of mutants, both young and old, it seems that there is yet another young mutant on the horizon. Actor Evan Jonigkeit revealed to MTV News that he will be bringing an old X-Men character back to the big screen in Days of Future Past.
It turns out that the actor will be playing a younger version of Toad when the film hits theaters May. This character has not been seen in any of the X-Men films since the original X-Men film when he was played by G.I. Joe star Ray Park.
According to the interview, Toad’s role in the upcoming film is going to be a little bit darker than we saw in the previous film. He talks about how the changes his character has undergone without revealing any real specifics.
“The aesthetics of the character are much different, and I’m not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that.” He says.
Toad’s introduction into the series makes me wonder if we will see young Magneto put together an incantation of the Brotherhood of Mutants. There are going to be enough characters there to pull it off, and it would fit with the darker atmosphere.
Besides, the mutants are going to need everything they can get now that they have to face off with Bolivar Trask, who is played in the film by Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, who has made it his mission to rid the world of mutant kind.
X-Men Days of Future Past is scheduled to hit theaters on May 23, 2014.
