2014 NFL Draft: Ameer Abdullah returning to Nebraska for senior year

Nebraska’s leading rusher Ameer Abdullah will bypass the 2014 NFL draft and return to Lincoln for his senior season, according to CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman.

The 5-9, 190-pound running back rushed for 1,690 yards, which was good enough for ninth in the nation and nine touchdowns for the 9-4 Cornhuskers. Abdullah ran for a career-high 225 yards on 20 carrier in Nebraska’s 39-19 win over Illinois.

Abdullah will use his senior season where he will again be a focal point of the offense to boost his draft stock

The Birmingham, Al native and product of Homewood high school was an underrated three-star recruit in the class of 2011 and with 2,977 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns during his Nebraska career to this point, he’s proven that you don’t need to be a highly-touted four or five-star recruit to have success in college.
