Bellator MMA has announced their first event of 2014 and the subsequent start of Season 10. On March 7th, at Bellator 111, the Bantamweight title will be on the line as champion, Eduardo Dantas, takes on tournament winner, Rafael Silva, in the main event of the evening. Also featured on the card will be the opening round of the Bellator Heavyweight tournament.
Dantas is 15-3, and undefeated inside Bellator. Unfortunately, injuries have significantly hindered Dantas in training and when he steps inside the cage against Silva in March, it will be his first fight in 13 months. Silva, most recently won the Bellator 2013 Summer Series Bantamweight Tournament by defeating Anthony Leone by unanimous decision.
If Dantas is victorious in March, he will have no time to rest on his laurels, as tournament winner Joe Warren has earned his shot at the title as well.
The Heavyweight tournament will feature four bouts all on the main card. Ryan Martinez will take on former UFC Heavyweight, Lavar Johnson, who is looking to get his first Bellator victory. Legendary kickboxer, Peter Graham, will take on Mighty Mo in a battle of heavy hitters. The former Bellator Heavyweight champion, Alexander Volkov, will look to get one step closer to regaining his title when he takes on Mark Holata. The final tournament bout will be between undefeated Bellator newcomer, Blagoi Ivanov, and Richard Hale.
