Former USC head coach Lane Kiffin is poised to bounce back. According to Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports and his source, Kiffin is interviewing for the Alabama offensive coordinator job as early as today. Kiffin had previously visited Alabama ahead of their bowl match up to serve as a consultant.

From CBS Sports:

Kiffin will visit Tuscaloosa for the interview but won’t be alone for the job. A long list of NFL suitors should be involved for a coveted job to replace Doug Nussmeier, who is now Michigan’s offensive coordinator.

It is below Kiffin’s usual head coaching position he’s had in his last few gigs, but considering how those have all gone a step back might be the right decision. Kiffin has experience in the SEC having served as Tennessee’s head coach for just one season before leaving for USC. Kiffin has a 35-21 record as head coach between those two jobs.

Kiffin and Alabama’s offensive philosophies mesh well. Kiffin prefers a pro-style offense while Alabama likes ball control with a physical running game.
