The Washington Nationals have been adding a little bit of depth to their infield corps. today, starting off with 39 year old veteran Jamey Carroll.
Now according to Adam Kilgore on Twitter, the Nationals have signed second baseman Mike Fontenot to a minor league contract.
The Nats also signed Mike Fontenot today on a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training, a source says.

Fontenot spent the entire 2013 season with the Tampa Bay Rays Triple-A affiliate and batted .264/.335/.379 across the line. He won a World Series with the San Francisco Giants back in 2010 and was teammates with recently retired Ryan Theriot with the Chicago Cubs for awhile.
He picked up the nickname ‘Little Babe Ruth’ for the power he was displayed once in awhile when he was with the Cubs. He hasn’t displayed a whole lot of power but when he did, he drove the ball pretty far.
Fontenot has 27 career home runs and 163 RBI’s with a batting line of .265/.332/.401 with the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies.
