Notre Dame wide receiver DaVaris Daniels will not be enrolled at Notre Dame for the spring semester according to a statement he sent to espn.com.
“I understand that attending the University of Notre Dame is a privilege and with that comes a certain level of academic responsibility,” Daniels said. “Therefore, I will not be attending Notre Dame in the spring semester but fully expect to re-enroll in the summer semester to earn my degree and continue playing football for the Irish.”
Daniels caught 49 balls for 745 yards for the Fighting Irish as a redshirt sophomore in 2013. He ranked second on the team in both categories. He also averaged 15.2 yards per catch to go along with his 7 touchdowns.
Daniels’ best game of the season came against the Purdue Boilermakers as he helped the Irish pull out a 31-24 victory. In that game, Daniels caught eight passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
The 6-2, 203-pound Daniels has 80 catches for 1235 yards and seven touchdown in his career with the Fighting Irish.
