Five-star WR Ermon Lane decommits from Florida Gators

Five-star wide receiver Ermon Lane officially decommited from the Florida Gators on Friday.

To anyone who follows recruiting, this is no surprise at all. Lane has been distant from the Gators for some time and has often been connected to the Florida State Seminoles, the team he will likely end up signing up.

Lane originally committed to Florida on August 12.

Although Lane says it has nothing to do with Dalvin Cook, a five-star running back who was committed to the Florida Gators and wound up enrolling at Florida State this week, the two have made their desire to play together well known.

With Florida State losing wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin (to the NFL draft) and Kenny Shaw (to graduation), Lane has a chance to earn a lot of playing time immediately. At 6’3 and 193 lbs., he has the build to help replace Benjamin.

Lane will take his official visit to Florida State on the weekend of January 31.

Lane is a 24/7 Sports composite five-star receiver. He is viewed as the 26th best overall player in the class of  2014 and the third-best wide receiver.
