CB Nigel Bethel flips from Miami to Texas Tech

Another south Florida prospect has decided not to attend Miami and play for Al Golden’s Hurricanes.

24/7 Sports Composite three-star cornerback Nigel Bethel III has decided to change his commitment from Miami to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Bethel is rated as a four-star prospect by both Rivals.com and ESPN’s Recruiting Nation.

“I felt the opportunity at Texas Tech was great for me,” Bethel told the Miami Herald‘s High School Sports Blog. “I felt like I wanted to leave Miami and take my talents elsewhere.

“Nothing really that made me want to decommit. I just felt like getting away was a really good opportunity for me to go into a real college environment, and do what I got to do. I just don’t want to stay in Miami any longer.”

Bethel attends Booker T. Washington in Miami, Florida, which is viewed as the best high school team in the country this year – they were declared national champions.
Bethel’s high school teammates, five-star defensive end Chad Thomas and four-star quarterback Treon Harris, are also viewed as must-get recruits.
Thomas is committed to Miami while Harris is committed to the Florida State Seminoles.
