George Karl says JR Smith brings 'mockery' to NBA

It seems as if New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith is getting it from all angels, including former head coach George Karl.

Smith and Karl spent a handful of years cohabiting with the Denver Nuggets, but it’s pretty clear the relationship had problems stemming from Karl’s most recent comments on ESPN New York 98.7’s FM “The Michael Kay Show.”

Karl held no punches in regards to Smith’s personality ‘flaws’, suggesting that he brings a ‘mockery’ to the game:

“He’s going to wake up some day and he’s going to realize that he’s thrown away some great opportunities and great years because of this mockery that he brings to the game,” Karl said.

The former NBA Head Coach of the Year award winner went on to say that while Smith has immense talent, he’s simply wasting it with his shenanigans.

Of course, Smith wouldn’t be the first nor the last to do such, but it’s pretty telling for a former coach to rip a player as badly as Karl did Smith.
