After playing 39 minutes in a 102-92 loss to the New York Knicks on Thursday night, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade will not play in Friday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Wade has battled knee pain throughout the season and suffered from a worse pain on Friday.
“I want to be smart about that,” Wade told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel during warmups in Brooklyn Friday night. “It’s just going off the pain. I decided not to because of the soreness.”
Wade has played in back-to-backs during the season, but decided not to risk it on Friday.
The Heat will also be without point guard Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier. Chalmers has an Achilles tendon problem while Battier is battling a sore quadriceps.
The Heat will start Chris Bosh, Rashard Lewis, LeBron James, Ray Allen and Norris Cole or as they will be known as tonight; CB, Sweet Lew, King James, J. Shuttlesworth and Cole Train.
The Heat and Nets will tip at 8:00 pm EST and the game is on ESPN.
