Stop me if you’ve heard this before – Dontrelle Willis has signed a minor league contract.

And then stop me if you’ve heard this before as well – the San Francisco Giants have signed Dontrelle Willis to a minor league contract.

Chances are, you’ve heard both and you’re about to hear them again as the Giants have yet again reached out to Willis and signed him to a minor league deal, this according to John Shea.

I heard Dontrelle Willis will be signing a minor-league contract with the #sfgiants

Willis, who most recently signed a deal with the Chicago Cubs (and finished 2013 with the Anaheim Angels) has long desired to pitch for the Giants or the Oakland Athletics given the proximity to his hometown.

The deal likely comes with no guarantees so it’s nothing more than essentially a spring training invite.

It’s doubtful much will come from the deal given Willis’ sub-par numbers (even in the minor leagues) the past few seasons, but San Francisco has also worked wonders with fellow career journeymen like Ryan Vogelsong and Chad Gaudin in recent memory.
