MLB Rumors: Manny Machado likely to be ready Opening Day

It’s been a relatively sub-par offseason for the Baltimore Orioles which included a voided contract with Grant Balfour, so it’s about time they have some good news trickle in.

That good news, you ask? The return of Manny Machado.

The young infielder, who suffered a devastating knee injury in the final week of the season is said to be recovering well and is currently on pace to be ready come Opening Day:

More importantly, Buck still expects Manny to be ready on opening day.

Of course, we’re over a month away from position players reporting and it’s not known how much of spring training Machado will participate in, so there is always room for a potential setback. That said, there were concerns that Machado wouldn’t be ready for the season opener when he suffered the gruesome injury, so the fact he’s currently on pace is great news.

Baltimore couldn’t have asked for a better rehabilitation at this point. Hopefully we’ll see Machado plenty during spring training as well.
