Few agents in pro sports are more powerful than Arn Tellem, which probably isn’t good news for the Houston Rockets considering he represents a few of their players – Omer Asik and Donatas Motiejunas specifically.
Neither have been happy with their roles within the Houston organization and according to CBS’ Ken Berger, Tellem is working the phones constantly in attempt to find a potential trade for each player:
Speaking of the Rockets, powerful agent Arn Tellem remains hard at work trying to get Asik out of Houston, but the Turkish center’s contract — including a $15 million cash payment next season — is a serious impediment. Tellem also is trying to get 2013 first-round pick Donatas Motiejunas out of Houston as well.
The Rockets, for what it’s worth, have reportedly done what they could do in regards to an Asik trade but were continually shot down.
Asik’s unique contract will only cost teams $8 million on the salary cap, but he’ll still be due $15 million next season regardless – a hefty price to pay for a player who seemingly only plays on one side of the ball.
