NBA Rumors: Lakers looking to trade for ‘athletic power forward’

The Los Angeles Lakers figure to players come February’s NBA trade deadline, though that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be trading Pau Gasol who has reportedly seen his value ‘plummet’.

That said – the Lakers still need to make some roster moves which could include the addition of an ‘athletic power forward’, this according to CBS Sports:

The Lakers are combing the trade market for an athletic power forward who fits Mike D’Antoni‘s system, though it isn’t clear how high they’re aiming.

Of course, the Lakers aren’t the only team in the NBA coveting such a talent so they’d certainly have competition to acquire such.

They do have the luxury of Gasol’s lucrative and expiring contract, but they lack youth. That would likely force the Lakers to part with their upcoming first round draft pick in addition to Gasol if they were to acquire such a player, though the odds currently seem to stack against such.

No players were specifically mentioned by name, so it’s not known who the Lakers currently have their eye on.

I’d be ok trading the upcoming 1st round pick for G.Monroe.

Kevin Love is outta minnesota eventually mmight as well trade him to the lakers and get pau who might resign with them since they have another spaniard there and get lakers first round pick which is gonna be a good pick. Its a win win for both teams.

Agree that Pau might end up in Minny after his contract expires. Agree that Kevin Love is gone past 2015.
But no way are the Lakers going to trade their #1. It is only 1 of 4 TOTAL draft picks (2 #1s, 2 #2s) between 2014 and 2017. It is growing more valuable with each Laker loss.

Ur an IDIOT. Why would u think the t-wolves would just give love to l.a. He’s the 4th or 5th best player in the world stupid and the Lakers don’t have close to enough assets to even be considered. Besides k love wants to win now n the Lakers are year’s away from even sniffing the play offs . Wake up lala land

There are rumors flying that K-Love could end up in Phoenix.

6 errors in the first two sentences. What ever happened to standards in ‘journalism?’ Whatever you’ve been paid in “gum” should be considered ‘overcompensation.’

IF they trade PAU…….then they went into the TANK……… he’s one of the premiere big men in the league, and probably the most skilled. A great NBA player, and a WINNER, its not his fault the lakers are an OLD TEAM.

” the Lakers to part with their upcoming first round draft pick in addition to Gasol….”
Such bad quality article, I could be a sport writer. FYI, the Lakers got no tradable 1st round pick until 2019.
    Why? 2013 2015 2017(traded-Nash and D12), 2014 2016 2018 picks not tradable.
