The New Orleans Pelicans went hard after point guard Eric Gordon not too long ago, but already they’re looking to reverse that decision and trade him to another team. The Pelicans signed Gordon to an offer sheet around two years ago but the team is now seeking to trade Gordon to acquire assets that will help them build around Anthony Davis and other young stars.

According to The Sporting News, the Pelicans have been looking for a trade partner for some time now in their efforts to move Gordon but so far no one has been biting.

After acquiring Jrue Holliday from the Philadelphia 76ers on Draft Day this summer, Gordon became expendable in the eyes of the Pelicans and the failure to find frontcourt help to run alongside Anthony Davis has the team only more convinced that it’s time to part ways with Gordon.

New Orleans isn’t going to simply give Gordon up for nothing, but they aren’t looking to oversell his value. Gordon has been an alright guard for New Orleans but injuries have plagued his time there and he hasn’t panned out the way the Pelicans thought he would when the signed him away from the Suns.

The Pelicans are a team on the rise with their young talent and while Gordon’s trade value may not be what it used to be, the team is clearly looking to move him for pieces that they can use for the future.
