It was a magical year for Boston College Eagles’ running back Andre Williams.
Although Williams and the Eagles’ season ended with a disappointing 42-19 blowout loss at the hands of the Arizona Wildcats in the AdVo Care V100 Bowl on December 31, the Eagles had a huge turnaround in 2013 under first year head Steve Addazio.
After going 4-8 in 2011, the Eagles hit a low point in 2012, posting a 2-10 record.
This season, the Eagles finished 7-6 and got back to a bowl game for the first time since 2010.
Williams had an incredible season, rushing for 2,177 yards and 18 touchdowns on 355 carries. Williams took home the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the country’s top running back and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, which was won by Florida State Seminoles’ quarterback Jameis Winston.
According to Mark Inabinett of AL.com, Williams has withdrawn from the game because of an injury.
Two other running backs, Carlos Hyde of the Ohio State Buckeyes and James White of the Wisconsin Badgers, have been added to the game.
