On Thursday, news surfaced that UFC welterweight contender Matt Brown had some not-so-flattering remarks towards women fighting inside of the UFC. Brown stated that he had no interest in women fighting inside of the octagon, so he suggested that they fight topless.
Brown has since apologized for his remarks and the UFC issued a statement on the matter, but we had yet to hear from UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
Steph Daniels of Bloody Elbow reached out to Rousey via text to get a comment on what Brown had said, and Rousey responded in a perfect way that shows she will just brush off the comments and focus on her upcoming fight at UFC 170 vs. undefeated Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann.
“Wait…. Who’s Matt Brown?” Rousey responded.
Rousey is on a media tour as she promotes her Feb. 22 match up against McMann and the last thing she needs is a distraction coming from some silly comments a man made on his podcast.
What we learned here is that Rousey still doesn’t care what anyone thinks and that Brown should be a bit more careful about the words that come out of his mouth as he represents ZUFFA as an employee.
