Tom Krasovic of the U~T San Diego is reporting San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews did not practice today.  Center Nick Hardwick did practice, and right tackle D.J. Fluker was “heavily taped” during practice.  Hardwick missed practice yesterday along with Mathews.

According to Josh Alper of NBC Sports, Harwick suffered a concussion in the first quarter of the playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals.  Alper reported yesterday that Hardwick needed to be cleared before he could participate in practice.

Alper also reported that Mathews missed practice on Thursday to rest his ankle, “but is expected to practice on Friday and play on Sunday.”  The news that Mathews remains on the sidelines should be concerning to Chargers fans.  Mathews has been a key player in their recent success, and losing him will make the battle in Denver very difficult.

D.J. Fluker sat out on Wednesday with an ankle injury according to Michael Gehlken of the U~T San Diego, and resumed practicing yesterday.  Gehlken said in his tweet that Fluker is “expected to play Sunday.”

The Chargers play the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:40 pm ET on CBS.  The game will be in Denver at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
