The UFC has been making plenty of moves to bring a number of top Russian fighters to the octagon, so the following rumors do not exactly come as a surprise. Whether or not they will be proven to be true remains to be seen, but rumors are beginning to surface in mixed martial arts circles that former Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix participant Sergei Kharitonov is set to sign with the UFC.

If true, it would be a big boost to the heavyweight division.

Kharitonov’s last loss came to former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett back in 2011, but he has been on a two-fight winning streak since then with wins over John Delgado and Alexei Kudin.

Kharitonov has notable wins over the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Alistair Overeem, Pedro Rizzo and Andrei Arlovski, so his move to the UFC would certainly be one that would get the die-hard fans of the sport excited.

We will just have to wait and see whether or not the rumor comes to fruition.
