A record number of underclassmen already have thrown their name into the mix for the 2014 NFL draft, but one name who hasn’t yet is Arizona Wildcats star running back Ka’Deem Carey who jokes at the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s awards banquet that Arizona has some sweet perks should he return for his senior season.

When asked about his decision to return to school where he would be the favorite to win the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back and on the short list for the Heisman, Carey offered up this funny response via Tucson Citizen.

"“We’re going to sit down and we’re going to go through this process. Arizona tells me they have flowers and trophies and ice cream waiting for me if I stay.”"

Will that be enough to offset the millions that will await him in the NFL where he projects as second round selection? We will know soon because Carey has until Jan. 15 to declare for the draft.

Carey has rushed for at least 119 yards in 15 straight games and was a consensus All-American in each of the past two seasons. A return to Arizona certainly would be the biggest recruiting pitch Rich Rodriguez has delivered all season long and would give a boost to the Wildcats offense next season.

However, I’d expect Carey to declare for the draft before Wednesday’s deadline.
