Saturday afternoon, after dominating through much of the game, the Seattle Seahawks survived a late surge from the New Orleans Saints in the fourth quarter to not only advance to next Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, but to host it.
The winner of Sunday’s Carolina Panthers-San Francisco 49ers contest will now definitely head off to Seattle to take on this Seahawks team with the chance to go to the Super Bowl on the line.
Defeating the Seahawks for the right to earn that trip to New York and Metlife Stadium to play in the biggest game of the year will be a lot easier said than done, as Seattle is an impressive 7-1 at home surrounded by the 12th man this year. Their lone loss in their home stadium came back on Dec. 22 to the division rival Arizona Cardinals.
Both the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers display some explosive offenses, but as was evidenced today inside CenturyLink Field, that means very little when you’re playing in front of that raucous crowd.
