Before there was Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher there was NHL couple Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie.
Hopefully for Underwood and Fisher, they don’t share the same fate as Duff and Comrie who have announced a plan to divorce.
Duff and Comrie were married in 2010 and have one son, Luca Cruz Comrie who will turn two in March.
Both parties say the split is mutual and that they will retain joint custody of their son, each suggesting they make better friends than lovers.
Duff, 26, grew famous for her roles on the Disney Channel but has evolved into more traditional acting roles while working on a musical album. Comrie meanwhile played 13 seasons in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Comrie, a former center, had two seasons where he put up sixty points – once in 2001 and once in 2005. He also made three appearances with Team Canada during the IIHF World Championships as is a former CCHA Rookie of the Year award winner.
