The Miami Hurricanes football program received some good news on Saturday morning, when top tight end Clive Walford announced that he will be returning to the team in 2014. Walford made his announcement in a statement that was released to the media.
“I think that the program is heading back to national recognition the way that Coach [Al] Golden and his staff are constructing and leading this team,” Walford said. “Waiting for the NFL (for another year) will only make me a more complete player overall and increase my knowledge of the game.
“(The Russell Athletic Bowl) game and winning nine games were very important for our team. It’s another step in the right direction.”
Last season, Walford recorded 454 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His receiving yards total was enough to land him as the team’s third leading receiver.
With another year to prove himself at Miami, Walford could look to show that he is one of the top tight ends in the nation.
