The Philadelphia Sixers were supposed to tank this season. They were supposed to give up, let their young stars develop and then come out firing next year with a core of first-round draft picks from the last two drafts. But a funny thing happened when they started letting Michael Carter-Williams lead the team — they started winning.
Philly may not be a playoff team this season, but they’re hardly tanking and Michael Cater-Williams is budding into a Rookie of the Year candidate and a viable superstar.
We saw more of that superstar talent on Saturday night when Carter-Williams drove the lane against the New York Knicks and finished with a nasty jam.
Carter-Williams is a nice surprise, as he was supposed to develop into a nice stud but not a star and not this fast. Some believed he had it in him, but overall his success is a surprise and it means great things for the NBA in Philadelphia moving forward.
