Michigan State forward Adreian Payne will not play against Minnesota

The Michigan State Spartans enjoyed a huge win this week over the previously unbeaten Ohio State Buckeyes in overtime. As great as the win was, there were some injury concerns afterward, particularly the health of star forward Adreian Payne.

Thursday, head coach Tom Izzo called one of his main pieces questionable for Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but its has just been announced that Payne will not be suiting up today for the Big Ten contest.

Payne is nursing a sprained right foot, and participated in some light shooting drills at practice this week, but he obviously didn’t show enough for the doctors to trot him out onto the court Saturday.

As seen in the report also, guard Travis Trice may also be out for the Minnesota game after he underwent mono tests this week after experiencing flu-like symptoms.
