The Minnesota Vikings spent most of their Saturday interviewing members of the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff, but it appears Mike Zimmer is the apple of their eye.

The Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator has already interviewed for the vacant head coach position and according to Adam Caplan, Minnesota has requested a second interview:

"#Bengals DC Mike Zimmer is expected to have his 2nd interview with the #Vikings early next week, source confirmed."

That of course doesn’t mean Zimmer is a shoe in the for the job, just that he has likely been narrowed down to one of the final few candidates.

Losing Zimmer would be a tough blow for the Bengals who potentially will have lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs.

Zimmer has been the assumed favorite for the job for a few weeks now and little has changed in that regard, especially after the Vikings request for a second interview.

It is expected the Vikings will announce their new head coach sometime next week.
