Saturday afternoon, with the 16th-ranked Blue Devils already being upset, the Oklahoma State Cowboys were facing a similar fate as they trailed the West Virginia Mountaineers on the road with 14 seconds left in the game, 72-70.
The loss to West Virginia would have dropped the Cowboys to 1-2 in Big 12 Conference play, not exactly what people expected with the hot start to the season they got off to.
But then, it was Markel Brown to the rescue who got the ball with 14 seconds left on the clock and executed a tremendous pump fake and then drained the three-pointer to give his team the win so they all could exhale.
With that, Oklahoma State is now 2-0 in conference play and they moved to 14-2 overall on the season.
Aside from that clutch play from Brown at the end, the star of the team, Marcus Smart, showed up to play once again.
In helping keep his team in this one, Smart dropped in 22 points and added 13 rebounds in five assists as he continually states his case for Player of the Year.
