After all of waiting and all of the speculation, the Penn State Nittany Lions will officially name Vanderbilt coach James Franklin their new head football coach in a press conference scheduled for later today.

Following the departure of Bill O’Brien to the Houston Texans, the Penn State brass went on a search that ended up in the committee coming down to three candidates in Miami’s Al Golden and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak–two Penn State alums–and Franklin.

Franklin will now take over a Penn State program that was able to stay relevant despite heavy sanctions that were thrown at them in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Bill O’Brien worked hard on the recruiting trail and with developing the talent they already had on the roster to keep the Nittany Lions in everyone’s minds.

Now, it’s up to Franklin to keep that momentum going and lead PSU into the next age, which may come sooner rather than later with the NCAA already lightening up on the scholarship sanctions, and contemplating lifting the bowl ban early.

Here’s how you can watch Saturday’s press conference to introduce Franklin as the new head coach live:

Date: Jan. 11

Start Time: 4:15 PM ET

Location: State College, Pa

Live Stream: Big Ten Digital Network

Topics: James Franklin, Penn State Nittany Lions
