Jamie Varner offers to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov

Dana White stated yesterday that UFC Lightweights are not exactly lining up to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov. Who could blame them? Nurmagomedov is 21-0, including five straight dominant victories inside the Octagon.

When the UFC revealed the UFC 170 poster, a fight between Nurmagomedov and Gilbert Melendez was featured. Unfortunately, that bout was never finalized and ultimately fell through. Since then, the UFC has been scrambling to find an opponent for Nurmagomedov.

Yesterday, the plot thickened when Dana White stated that Nate Diaz had turned down a fight with Nurmagomedov. Diaz took to Twitter, vehemently denying White’s claims:

While White has yet to respond to Diaz, another UFC Lightweight has chimed in. Jamie Varner, the former WEC Lightweight champion, posted on Twitter that he would gladly fight Nurmagomedov:

Varner already has enough on his plate for the time being as he meets rising prospect, Abel Trujillo, at UFC 169. Varner took the fight on short notice, replacing the injured Bobby Green. If Varner is looking past Trujillo, it could be a long night for the former champion. If Varner is able to beat Trujillo, would you like to see him fight Nurmagomedov?
