Louis Oosthuizen retains Volvo Golf Champions title

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen retained his Volvo Golf Champions trophy on Sunday, shooting a final-round score of 68 to finish one stroke ahead of Branden Grace.

Oosthuizen recorded a bogey on the 16th hole to fall a stroke behind Grace, but the 31-year-old rallied with birdies on both 17 and 18.

Oosthuizen spoke about the exciting finish to reporters afterwards:

I saw Branden was top of the leaderboard just as I was about to tee-off on 17, so I knew I needed to give myself a good opportunity so luckily the wind was at the left so I could take the pin on a bit. I still didn’t think I would get that close.

I felt really comfortable out there all day, especially with my iron play and the putter behaved today, I hit some good putts. I managed to finish strong (Reuters).

England’s Tommy Fleetwood, who started Sunday atop the leaderboard, shot a 72 to finish tied for third with Joost Luiten.
