Last night when the Detroit Red Wings topped the Los Angeles Kings, there was a touching moment on the ice. Red Wings left winger Tomas Tatar scored what ended up to be the game-winning goal, but it was his tribute to his father after the goal that caught all of our attention.

According to the Detroit Free Press’ Helene St. James, Red Wings GM Ken Holland confirmed that Tatar’s father passed away on Friday.

However, Tatar will play in the team’s game on Sunday before heading back to Slovakia to attend his father’s funeral.

You can see the goal and celebration from Tatar, where he points to the sky after kissing his fingers. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tatar and his entire family as they deal with this tragedy.
