Five-star outside linebacker Rashaan Evans (Auburn, Al. Auburn) had a top five with four SEC schools represented, but now the 6-3, 220-pound versatile athlete is down to a final three including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and UCLA Bruins.
The Georgia Bulldogs were dropped one day after losing defensive coordinator to the Louisville Cardinals and he has cancelled his official visit to Georgia as well as his trip to Oxford where the Ole Miss Rebels are eliminated from contention.
Alabama will host Evans on Jan. 17 and Auburn one week later on Jan. 24 with Evans expected to announce his decision on national signing day on Feb. 5.
UCLA hosted Evans on an official visit on the weekend of Sept. 28. The Bruins recently secured a commitment from four-star outside linebacker Dwight Williams at the U.S. Army All-American bowl so that likely has UCLA running third in the race.
Auburn has been viewed as the prohibitive favorite for Evans where he would play the hybrid linebacker-safety “Star” position in Ellis Johnson’s defense. Evans had 77 tackles, 44 for loss and 17.5 sacks this season.
Evans is ranked as the No. 3 outside linebacker and No. 15 recruit overall in the 247Sports rankings. Auburn does not have any outside linebacker commitments and is the top target on Gus Malzahn’s recruiting board.
My prediction is Evans commits to Auburn.
