CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) reports that Cesar Izturis has come to terms with the Houston Astros on a minor league deal. Heyman also speculates that Izturis has a good chance to be the club’s utility fielder.

Izturis, the half-brother of Maicer Izturis of the Toronto Blue Jays, spent 2013 with the Cincinnati Reds, playing in only 63 games. He has playing time recorded at second, third, and short during that time, and hit .209/.259/.271. He has played for 13 seasons for the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Cubs, Pirates, Cardinals, Orioles, Brewers, and Nationals. He has won a Gold Glove at shortstop and earned a trip to the All Star game in his time with Los Angeles.
